Snow Record

As the highest resort in Europe (2300m), Val Thorens is one of, if not the, most snow-sure resort in the Alps. With 99% of the ski area situated above 2,000 metres, it offers excellent conditions, with an average snowfall of 547cm and the average biggest dump reaching 61cm per season. This means that you are guaranteed some of the best conditions from November right through to May. Should that not be enough, thanks to its Three Valleys connection and the well-kept ski secret that is Maurienne (the Fourth Valley), you're guaranteed excellent snow conditions all season long and some truly incredible pistes to explore.

Best Time to Ski in Val Thorens

The best time to ski in Val Thorens is from mid-December to mid-April, when the snow conditions are usually at their best. Historically, the highest snowfall has been during February and March. March tends to be the best time to ski, with quieter pistes and affordable holiday prices. Whatever time you choose to visit, Val Thorens' high altitude and north-facing slopes ensure that the snow remains good even in warmer winter months.

Novice skiers can begin their journey at the Rond Point des Pistes, where covered magic carpets and nursery slopes provide a gentle introduction to the slopes. Families, meanwhile, can enjoy the 'Funride' and "Expérience Spatiale" snowpark, designed to provide a fun and engaging experience for all.

For more experienced skiers and snowboarders, the Snowpark offers a comprehensive range of features, including boxes, rails, tables, and jumps, catering to all skill levels. The park's four corridors are graded from green to black, ensuring that there is something to suit every ability. Advanced Skiers can explore the vast Three Valleys ski area, which boasts over 600km of pistes and some of the highest slopes in Europe.
