With 99% of the ski area situated above 2,000 metres, it offers excellent conditions, with an average snowfall of 547cm and the average biggest dump reaching 61cm per season. This means that you are guaranteed some of the best conditions from November right through to May. Should that not be enough, thanks to its Three Valleys connection and the well-kept ski secret that is Maurienne (the Fourth Valley), you're guaranteed excellent snow conditions all season long and some truly incredible pistes to explore.
The best time to ski in Val Thorens is from mid-December to mid-April, when the snow conditions are usually at their best. Historically, the highest snowfall has been during February and March. March tends to be the best time to ski, with quieter pistes and affordable holiday prices. Whatever time you choose to visit, Val Thorens' high altitude and north-facing slopes ensure that the snow remains good even in warmer winter months.
